A couple of things are going on.

Yesterday, two friends of mine from a different life came to visit me. Kathy and Jim worked with me at a funeral home 11-12 years ago.
It was like old times....but with fewer dead people. HA.

We met up and had some food and good chit chat. I'm sorry it's been so long since we've seen each other. Maybe we can change that in the future.

In other news.... (I guess I'll start at the beginning).... I read this blog. Coldantlerfarm.blogger This gal is living in New York on her newly purchased land and is doing the farm thing. There are many wonderful things about her and her writing. (I recommend checking her out).
Anyway....one of the things that she is interested in is old time mountain music.

So I was just minding my own business...reading along....and I got snagged by the banjo.

I have been aware of it before...but have never really got searching. But sometimes I would see something or someone and STOP. (like Steve Martin....have you heard him play???....crazy).

So it's been on my mind.

Today I've done my serious research and ordered one of those bad boys.

HEE heee Heeee....I'm gonna git a banjo...*laa laa..skip skip...hee hee*
I'm excited.

So perhaps in a week or so I'll be annoying the mammals around here...and maybe the neighbors....(I'd love sitting in the sun on my back step, pickin' away) ((we don't have sun yet...but maybe spring will spring))

I have had some music experience before. I played piano, clarinet, fiddled with sax, marimba, dulcimer, and accordion. I've played harpsichord and probably things I don't remember.
You will notice in the mix is not a string. I'd love to play cello...but that is large and a commitment.

There are a few things that I'm a little worried about....like coordination...but I'll get over that with some practice.
Another is the trend to be all excited and play for 5 hours the first day and by the end of the first week...not picking it up again.
But I have already justified that by....1) It's not that expensive and 2) I'm sure my brother would be interested in playing a little with it (for the first week until he puts it down).....I dunno...if we spread it around the family enough it will pay for itself quickly.

Maybe if I can manage it....I'll update my progress here.

(hee heee....skip...skip....skip...) *smile*
